Flood Recovery Progress: Stone Mountain Lodge has Power and Road Work is Underway
As Mindy and I arrived on-site today, the guys from the power company were just ready to “energize” our property after replacing two power poles and stringing new lines across the St. Vrain River!
At the same moment, Lee from Johns Well Service in Lyons, our person who maintains our well, came up to check on our well and water system. We didn’t even call him since we had no idea power was being restored so soon.
So as a result, we were able to start bringing up power to our buildings, and Lee checked out our well and water treatment system. We still need to turn electricity on to all buildings and units, flush our water system and test our well. However, this is huge progress.
In the meantime, work continues with the highway leading to, and continuing west, from Stone Mountain Lodge. There is much work to be done on the road, but progress is made every day. Phone lines, cable and natural gas still need to be restored.
We have many pictures of the river and Stone Mountain Lodge in the days just after the flood. I hope to share many of these as soon as things settle down. Right now Mindy and I are working every waking hour to help get Stone Mountain Lodge up and running as soon as we possibly can.
Again, we are so grateful that our property is generally intact, yet we are reminded so vividly by the enormity of the situation for the general area each time we drive through Lyons and head up river to Stone Mountain Lodge.
Peter & Mindy, Owners
P.S. Please direct all correspondence with the main phone and e-mail address for Stone Mountain Lodge. Please don’t call the owners at their home number. They do not have direct access to the reservations system, and the phone needs to be kept open for communication with utility companies, government agencies, banks, etc. to support our recovery.
