Update: One Month Since the Floods
It’s hard to believe it’s already a full month since these difficult times began. Considering the immense task at hand, so much progress has been made, yet there is still so much to do. Here’s a summary as things stand today, to the best of my knowledge:
1) Highway 36 around Stone Mountain Lodge – They expect to start paving the temporary road around Stone Mountain today. This is great news, however I don’t know when the road will be open to the general public. This will at least help our access to the property, along with other services we will need. It’s been very frustrating not being able for us as owners to get on site for the last few days.
2) Utilities – The remaining utilities we need are phone and gas service. After talking to some high level sources, it looks like we can have phone within a week or so, and gas service within 2 weeks.
At this point in time, it looks like Stone Mountain Lodge could re-open on-site before the end of October!
I know it has been frustrating for those hoping to have their wedding at Stone Mountain Lodge in the future where you haven’t been able to see our venue. Please bear with us.
Regarding refunds – We are generally on our posted schedule for refunds. There have been some issues in making sure refunds go to the correct recipients. If your reservation is within a refund block that should have already been refunded, and you have not received your refund, please inform us clearly though e-mail only with pertinent information. Note that the posted dates for each refund block are the starting dates for processing the refunds in that block. We are sorry, but this is cumbersome and takes time.
Please refer to these “Happenings” posts, from time to time, for updated information on our recovery.
