Cabin 20 has a living area with a sofa sleeper, a kitchen and dining area, and a captain’s ladder leading to a sleeping loft with a queen bed. The bathroom has a full bath.
The goal of cabin 20’s meticulous restoration was not only to bring back its original character, but to enhance it. It was restored to assure your stay will be a unique experience.
Great care was given to restore the original knotty pine paneling, doors, hardware, wood floors, kitchen cabinets, and any unique features that originated when they were built in the early 1950’s. Their restoration included all new electric, plumbing, heating and air-conditioning.
The living area highlighted by the original wood burning fireplaces constructed with Lyons sandstone. The sandstone came from the local quarries in Lyons and is the same sandstone that makes up the red cliffs at the top of the Stone Mountain Lodge property.
The wood floors and knotty pine paneling provide the hominess of a cabin, enhanced with more elegant furnishings than you might expect. The brass chandelier at the entry has a dimmer, so go ahead and set a romantic mood if you desire. A wood fire or lit candles in the fireplace add to your peace and tranquility.
The kitchen is restored using its original hand crafted knotty pine cabinets. The sink and base cabinet was refinished with a fresh and unique color scheme. There is modern refrigerator and gas range with an oven. The kitchens are stocked with coffee makers, microwaves and all the necessary kitchenware.
Access to the sleeping loft is via a custom designed, hand crafted captain’s ladder. It is quite easy to climb. The loft has a pale blue ceiling representing the sky, a deep green carpet of lush grass, and the woodsy feel of knotty pine paneling.
When you look out the window, you could feel like you’re in a tree house. Both grown-ups and kids find the sleeping loft to be fun and unique!
The sleeping loft is larger than you might expect. The highest part of the ceiling is about 5-1/2 feet. The loft partially overlooks the living room, yet the queen bed is set back providing quite a bit of privacy. There is a comfy chairs for relaxing, reading and looking out at the scenery.
The bath room was completely restored with an art deco flare that keeps to the 1950’s flavor. there is a full bath and a pedestal sink. Each bathroom has it’s own design using black and white bath and floor tiles and two tone paint.
