For a smaller number of guests, you can consider the
Simple Wedding Reception option
for your outdoor wedding at Stone Mountain Lodge and Cabins. You will still have
towering red cliffs, a view of the pond, and lush green all around. And for fewer than 50 people, you'll have enough shelter if the weather
turns wet during a short rain shower. However, you may consider bringing an
extra tent or tarps if rain seems more likely that day, especially if you expect
closer to 50 people. You can consider this option being similar to an outdoor park wedding. However, the advantage is that you have more flexibility on what you can do, and the privacy you may not have in a public location. Also, any of your out of town guests can lodge right at the property. You'll have the garden area at the end of the pond for your
affair. Our chairs can be set up for a ceremony on the garden area lawn.
Depending on how you set up the chairs for your ceremony, you can choose the pond
or the cliffs to be your backdrop. Your guests can still wander around the pond
and enjoy the space the outdoors provides. Your reception can be a buffet served under the shelter,
or cocktails and passed hors d'oeuvres
If you
declare your wedding to be more informal, all of sudden it is easier to come up
with creative wedding reception ideas that are fun, and save you money. In lieu
of more formality, you may consider a theme, based on a specific type of music
you like, or other activities you and your fiancé enjoy. For example, hire a
bluegrass band and serve a barbeque. Your guests can dress very casually in
sundresses and jeans.
Or it can be simple, but formal. Have a string quartet, with people dressing more elegantly in lightweight dresses, and shirts and ties. The food can be cocktails, martini's, and hors d'oeuvres, such as sushi and lobster croquettes. If you have a small number of guests, you can still rent the ceremony and pond areas too. This allows you to have the entire pond area dedicated for your use. It all depends on your desires and style. Whatever you do, we'll work with you to help keep things simple, or within your budget, to make sure your day is special. If you prefer to have only an Intimate Ceremony without a Reception, you can consider our Intimate Ceremony or Elopement (Package E). This is offered from Monday through Thursday and is perfect when you may just want close friends and family to witness your exchange of vows.
